The Irish Red & White Setter is a moderate pace and range hunter. The breed should cover methodically. The IRWS maintain an innate curiosity, investigating every area of cover. As IRWSs search for game with a head carried above the line of their back, with muzzle parallel to the ground. The Irish Red & White Setter slows down gait coming almost to a crawl upon finding their quarry.
This Irish Red and White Setter has great hunting stamina and intensity. The Irish Red and White Setter is a high-energy dog. The IRWS is known as a “gentleman’s hunting dog” hunting for their human companion. The breed requires gentle persuasion as a training method. They possess a good sense of humor, strong nose and are an excellent family dog.
